Maximal Security with the Push of a Button: LuxSci now provides account administrators with a "Maximum Security" button that allows them, in one click, to configure all of the options in their account to settings that ensure maximal security. This configures such things as forced use of SSL, strong passwords, and forced use of SecureLine (if you have purchased it) with S/MIME certificates. This option is available in the "Advanced Account Administration" area.

Account managers can also contact support to have these settings "Locked Down" so that noone in the account can alter them without contacting support directly, getting approval, and leaving an audit trail.

If you want maximal email security and the assurance that it is setup correctly and cannot be circumvented, this is for you.

Address Book User Interface Overhaul: The user interface for the WebAide Address Books has been completely re-written for both the regular and Xpress portals. The overhaul in the regular portal makes the Address Books look and work like our AJAX-based webmail and takes advantage of modern browser features like browser storage. In the Xpress portal, the address book interface has been simplified, streamlined, and made to look and work well on the narrow screens of mobile devices.

Some of the notable improvements in address books include:

  • Fast user interface integrated with WebMail
  • View, search, and sort the entries of any combination of address books. Page through all entries instantly.
  • Once you view your address books, they are remembered by your browser. Thus, returning to your address books later will be very fast.
  • Use drag and drop to move or copy entries from one address book to another.
  • Use in-page dialog boxes to move or copy entries to another address book or a new address books.
  • Edit or create new entries in a popup that works just like the new email message creation window.
  • Create many simple new entries quickly with our in-page "quick new" dialog box.
  • Reformat the titles of some or all entries quickly
  • View subscribed and unsubscribed address books in a tree interface just like folders are viewed in the email interface.
  • Subscribe to and unsubscribe from address books directly from the new interface (you no longer have to go to a WebAide management screen for this).
  • Full screen viewing modes
  • Printable entry views
  • Send email messages easily to selected contacts
  • Enhanced advanced search options
  • Easily export (to CSV or vCard) entire address books or just the matches to your search.
  • Create new address books directly from the address book viewing interface.
  • Use short-cut keyboard commands to perform common actions (like new, copy, delete, etc.).
  • Licensed WebAide users can now add attachments to any address book entry. Attachments are no longer limited in size or the number that you can add to an entry.

Of course, our other great features like global and explicit sharing, synchronization with Outlook, LDAP access, etc., are all still there.

Over the next several months, LuxSci will be converting all of the other WebAides (i.e. calendars, tasks, documents, etc.) into a similar fast and well-integrated modern interface. We will also be updating their Xpress portal interfaces (As well as that of Xpress email) to work well on the small screens of mobile phones.

Minor WebMail Enhancements: The WebMail email interface has been enhanced with in-page dialog boxes for creating new folders and for moving and copying messages. Also, a "Logout" button has been added to the WebMail toolbar when the user is in "Full Screen" mode -- so that it is easier to logout in that mode.

Improved User Interface: WebMail now features a new user interface designed to make it easier to customize the look and feel of your email. Rather than going into their preferences, users can now simply drag and drop to change what they see, with tabbed options to easily hide and show the email folder tree, message list, and message preview screens.
Improved Message Composition Interface: When composing a message, users now use a tabbed interface to go between the main message, attachments, options, and templates. The BCC line and the "More Options" areas are now automatically available via tab, instead of only through the preferences menu. Options for text, HTML, or advanced HTML messages are also tabbed, providing a more streamlined composition window, without any loss of functionality.
Improved Help Guide Interface: The Help guide now uses the same LuxSci UI to ease changing its appearance to meet your criteria. Settings for the folder tree automatically match those in the mail WebMail email view, so your folder tree is always the right size. Information that is important or personalized to a user's account will now be marked with a grey background for better visibility.
Full Support for Opera v9.5: Opera users will find that the new WebMail changes will be fully supported for their client.
Visual Settings: Now when composing messages, users can quickly see and change the message importance and SecureLine settings. Moving between messages in the message pane will also work more intuitively; moving to the previous/next message will continue beyond the current group of messages, rather than simply stopping.

vCard Format Support: LuxSci has added the ability to import and export address book entries in the vCard (.vcf) file format to and from WebAide Address Books. Users of Apple Mail and Apple iPhone can now synchronize their contact lists with their LuxSci Address Book without needing to convert the file to a CSV.
Bulk Import/Export of Address Book SecureLine Data: SecureLine users can now import and export PGP and S/MIME public keys associated with their address book contacts via CSV. With this new feature, administrators have the ability to upload all security data for all their users at once into a global address book without needing to manually upload the public keys for each user individually.

Improved Look and Feel: LuxSci has improved the look and feel of its WebMail interface by introducing revised Vista-like icon library and by updating the presentation of many dialog boxes.
WebMail Tagging Improvements: WebMail now takes advantage of the knowledge of what tags have been used previously on an email folder to make the addition of new tags to messages easier and to make searching for messages based on tag more intuitive.
Email Folder Management: The "properties" an an email folder that you can access via the email folder management tool now pop-up in a dialog box. This significantly enhances usability, simplifies the presentation of the tool, and makes the interface more intuitive. Users can now also edit the properties of an email folder directly from the WebMail message list interface.
WebAide Management: The "properties" an a WebAide that you can access via the WebAide management tool now pop-up in a dialog box. This significantly enhances usability, simplifies the presentation of the tool, and makes the interface more intuitive. Users can now also edit the properties of a WebAide directly from the WebAide interface.
WebAide Import and Export: All of the import and export functions of WebAides have been moved into the "Properties" page for the WebAide, available in the WebAide management area. Now, all administrative functions for WebAides are consolidated into that single interface. Additionally, all WebAide exports now support the option to only export those entries matching your most recent advanced search. Also, you can now export WebAide eJournals, Links, Notes, and Documents as XML and CSV files.
Improved Tag Management: The email message tag management dialog box has been improved to make the addition and removal of tags faster and easier. It is also now possible to create new tags right from this dialog box.
WebAides Replace "Categories" with "Tags": WebAide categories have been replaced with a "tagging" functionality identical to that used in WebMail. This allows users to use the same add/remove tag interface and the same list of tags with both WebMail messages and WebAides entries (i.e. calendar items, address book entries, etc.). Unlike with categories, tags no long have to be "pre-defined" to be used with a WebAide and anyone who can edit an entry can tag it.

The option to display the list of entries in a WebAide by "category index pages" has been removed; all WebAides can be filtered by Tag now using the "View" selection, just like in WebMail.

WebAides "Tag" Features: WebAide users can now remove tags, rename tags, and move entries from one tag to another using the new "Tags" WebAide property editor.

Basic Spam Quarantine Reports: Users of LuxSci's Basic Spam and Virus Filtering Service who save spam and/or virus messages to a separate folder will now receive daily emailed reports of "what is new" in those folders so that they can easily see the status of their Spam and Virus storage areas and detect any false positives. This report is optional, though enabled by default.
Duplicate Message Removal: LuxSci's email folder management tools have allowed users to remove duplicate email messages from email folders using custom criteria for some time. Now, users can remove duplicate email messages from the current folder in directly the WebMail message list interface by selecting the new "Remove Duplicate Messages" option from the "Folders" menu. This "do it now" option will use your stored duplicate message criteria for the current folder, if you have any, or common-sense defaults for what generally constitutes a duplicate email message.
